The Appellation d’Origine Controlee (AOC) of Monbazillac was one of the very first to be created in 1936 with the most prestigious vineyards. It govern by decree the stringent conditions of production.

In modern times Monbazillac has rested on its laurels for too long.

But at the turn of the 1990’s a collective awareness of this brought about a change, to rebuild the appellation on a solid and qualitative basis.

After centuries of turbulent history with many highs and lows and a few dark periods, Monbazillac today has reclaimed its aristocratic credentials.
